Wave-Particle Duality and the Hamilton Action
The Hamilton-Jacobi equation of relativistic quantum mechanics is revisited. The equation is shown to permit solutions in the form of breathers (oscillating/spinning solitons), displaying simultaneous particle-like and wave-like behaviour. PACS: 03.65-w, 03.65Pm, 03.65.-b
متن کاملThe Čerenkov-Compton effect in particle physics
The two-photon production by motion of a charged particle in a medium is considered. This process is called Čerenkov-Compton effect (ČCE) because the production of photons is calculated from the Feynman diagram for the Compton effect in a medium. This process is not forbidden in quantum electrodynamics of dielectric media. The cross section of this process in Mandelstam variables is calculated f...
متن کاملA Wave Interpretation of the Compton Effect
The Compton effect is commonly cited as a demonstration of the particle feature of light. In this investigation, we present an alternative interpretation of the Compton effect based on the postulates of de Broglie and on the wave scattering from a spaceand timevarying medium, without explicit resort to the conservation of energy and momentum. متن کاملWave Particle Duality in General Relativity
In this paper a one to one correspondence is established between spacetime metrics of general relativity and the wave equations of quantum mechanics. This is done by first taking the square root of the metric associated with a space and from there, passing directly to a corresponding expression in the dual space. It is shown that in the case of a massless particle, Maxwell’s equation for a phot...
متن کاملOptical solitons and wave-particle duality.
We investigate the propagation of optical solitons interacting with linear defects in the medium. We show that solitons exhibit a wave-particle dualism versus power, i.e., depending on the relative size of soliton and defect, responsible for a soliton trajectory dependent on its waist.
